Temari Christmas decorations

November 27, 2012

25cm circumference, #5 perle cotton

I’m reviewing some Christmas decorations I stitched a while back. They feature herringbone kiku (both over the top of bands and interlocked around the bands) as well as interlocked stitched bands around triangles, as well as wrapped bands to fill in the blank squares.

The process of stitching the three components – interlocked bands (far left), then “flowers” then bands between the poles added last (far right) – is shown below. I’ve lined up the balls so you are looking at the North Pole; the same stitching takes place around the South Pole as well.
