Kabar2 temari dari Indonesia!
July 28, 2011
Great news from Indonesia. During last year’s Ramadan in Indonesia, the Japan Foundation in that nation’s capital Jakarta, some temari workshops were organised leading to a small exhibition of temari balls.
As reported in the Jakarta Globe (29 July 2011), the groundswell of local interest helped create last year an Indonesian Temari Association, which is great news for the spread of the Japanese craft tradition in S.E. Asia and by extension Australasia. Sixteen members, all women, ranging in age from 35 to 78, led by the association’s Frida Prawiradjaja, contributed to a exhibition running currently.
Congratulations, temari makers. Ucapan selamat, pembina2!
