Takahara 3/32 and 4/32
June 7, 2009
The key for me in these two, apart from coming to grips for the first time with double-threading stitching, is the fact that Takahara calls for only 22cm mari, which is a perfect size for these simple ‘string’ temari. The one on the left is almost Arabic in its stark simplicity; the one on the right is obviously a traditional noshi design, with its cross-overs at the equator. 3/32 calls for just two colours of yarn on a dark background (the white/grey/black mix again), while 4/32 calls for the traditional red-yellow-blue mix via the pink/light blue/light yellow.
